Due to some unexpected events we were forced to cancel our reservations for the 18-21st this year. We hit the first weekend this year, instead.
It worked out well because we ended up staying at the Hampton right inside Broadway at the Beach. Rode and shopped vendors during the day, hit a
nice restaurant, then walked right out from the hotel to hit the bars and nightclubs at Broadway at the Beach. We were a little worried there
wouldn't be a lot of bikers there the first weekend of the 10 day event. Boy, were we wrong. This was expected to be the biggest bike week ever
and I wish we could have stayed for the entire thing to see just how crazy it got by the next weekend.
It was a great time, tons of bikes on the road, fantastic weather over the weekend which made for great riding. My biggest surprise was the number
of non-harleys we saw, especially production choppers and pro-streets. Half the bikes we saw were Harleys, but their saturation was challenged by
increasing numbers of metrics, choppers, and pro-streets.
